Bathroom & Wet-Area Waterproofing — Lusail Apartments

The challenge

Several apartments showed water staining on the ceilings of units directly below the bathrooms. Grout lines had become permeable and the original under-tile waterproofing had failed. The owner wanted the leaks stopped without the cost and disruption of stripping every bathroom back to the slab.

Our solution

We used a tile-on-tile approach: surfaces were cleaned and primed, drains and corners detailed with mesh, then a textured SR Coat MTR 50 membrane was applied directly over the existing tiles. Its textured finish let new tiles bond straight onto the waterproofing. Adjoining wet walls were reinforced with SR Flex.

The result

Each bathroom was flood-tested before re-tiling and returned to use within 1–2 days — no slab demolition, no damage to the units below, and a clean, warrantied finish. The inter-floor leaks stopped completely.
